Known for their accurate fit created using real life body data, AlvaForm dress forms are a widely popular choice among fashion design institutional programs and professionals. While typically an expensive investment, the AlvaForm fit can now be achieved through these custom-made blocks/slopers.

These Basic Dress blocks / slopers were created using Haus of Vining’s AlvaForm Basic Dress Pattern Blocks in size 14 as a base, but they were NOT simply graded up following the same grading scale as smaller sizes. The size 14 from the Missy 2-14 block set was carefully reconfigured and modified into a Plus Size 14, taking into account the needs and concerns of the fuller figure. These blocks feature a fuller cup, fuller bicep, higher natural waistline seam, and shortened back waist length to accommodate a moderate swayback. Once these unique extended size proportions were established, the Plus Size 14 was then graded up using a modified grading scale to a Plus Size 36, creating the entire AlvaForm Standard Plus size range.

All sizes (14-36) are included in this file download, shown as a graded nest and color-coded for each size. (Sizes are also number labeled, if printing in black-and-white is desired). This PDF file also features separate layers to allow for printing of individual sizes.

A note on fit: Please review the measurement chart for perspective on the fit of this brand of dress form. AlvaForm has two primary lines of Plus Size dress forms - Standard, and Bold Curve. This set of blocks follows the STANDARD Plus measurement specs, which are more suited to "apple" shaped bodies. I will eventually be creating blocks for the Bold Curve Plus line as well, which will be more catered to those with "pear" shaped bodies, so stay tuned for them in the near future!

These are pattern blocks / slopers meant to be used as templates by experienced pattern makers. They are NOT completed sewing patterns, and therefore DO NOT HAVE SEAM ALLOWANCES. Blocks include moderate wearing ease, and are made for woven fabrics with 0% stretch. See included measurement charts for exact measurements of finished garment with ease, and corresponding body/dress form size measurements.

Please note that dress form size numbers do not typically correspond with standard ready-to-wear sizing when purchasing clothing. You will want to refer to the included measurement chart to ensure proper size selection.
